Google Applications for Your Domain
I recently bought a domain name and wanted to have email set up.
So I came upon Google Applications for Your Domain and decided to give it a try.
The idea of 2 Gb per account, search, a free pop3 access to my mail and other goodies sounded appealing.
Actually, it’s Gmail running in disguise on your domain. You also get a shared calendar with the other accounts on your domain (I set up accounts for my family). Basically it sounds like your own MS Exchange server but it’s free (my favorite price tag!)
The installation was pretty straight forward, even for me – I had never managed my own domains. You just have to prove that you own the domain name – some editing of the MX settings of your domain host company and you’re up and running in no time.
Anyway, I’ve been using that for over a week now with no glitches and hiccups.
Thank, Google, for a great free service.
